THE IMPROVEMENT OF SIGHT-READING ABILITIES IN PITCH AND RHYTHMIC ACCURACY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL MIXED CHORAL ENSEMBLE

In the Fall, students and teachers from Newark Boys Chorus School made a presentation about our school as part of a music education seminar at Westminster Choir College, a historic and revered New Jersey institution. For the next two months, we are happy to welcome Jessica Dalrymple, a 2020 graduate with a Bachelor of Music Education and current student in the Master of Music Education program, as a guest in our 7/8A music theory class. For part of each class time she will work with the students on sight-singing skills as part of her graduate study. The results of the boys work will be used in her study for her school project. We believe that thisinteraction will be beneficial to all of us - boys, educators, and our two institutions.
