Fed up with the building’s vending machines, NBCS 8th graders took matters into their own hands and built a snacks business with teacher Krystina Natal. Many students reported losing money in the school’s vending machines and complained about the poor choice of items. When they spoke to teachers, their path to success became obvious.

Build it and they will come!

Ms. Natal, Science and Art Teacher at NBCS provided the initial supply of snacks to be sold and the business-minded 8th graders stocked a cart, discussed business strategies, developed a marketing plan for paying back Ms. Natal, re-investing profits, and providing healthier choices for interested customers.

The snack store had a banner opening week and students hope to gain momentum for this new business throughout the year.
