Newark Boys Chorus School celebrates Juneteenth

In celebration of the first observance of Juneteenth as a National Holiday, members of the Newark Boys Chorus School Concert Chorus have recorded - Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning, a traditional spiritual, arranged by Alan Hommerding.

Debuting on Father's Day weekend, it provided an opportunity to share this “moment in time” with our sons, when they can look to their lineage through the eyes of their fathers, and yes, father-figures in their lives; and at the same time recognize and celebrate their rich heritage by way of the work of those who tirelessly and relentlessly kept the “lamps trimmed and burning,” as we all heard “The day is drawing nigh!”
